Marco Wedel is a Berlin-based musician, composer, and humanities scholar whose creative and academic pursuits span music, political philosophy, and technology. His work embodies a transdisciplinary approach, merging artistic and social-scientific perspectives.
With formal training in jazz, composition, and improvisation – including studies at Berklee College of Music – his compositions are playful essays on exploring human presence, creativity, and their part in music – trying to acknowledge the physical, the intellectual, the emotional, and the social dimensions of music-making, and seeking the sweet spot where they all meet.
Marco holds a PhD in political philosophy from Freie Universität Berlin and works as a researcher at the Technical University of Berlin. His research focuses on digitization, artificial intelligence, and democratic participation, subjects that influence and inform his artistic practice. Central to his work is the belief in doubt as a vital source of both artistic integrity and civic responsibility – an openness to (self-)questioning that fosters creativity, resilience, and deeper engagement with the world.
Throughout his career, Marco has collaborated with an array of artists from various disciplines, performed across Germany and abroad, and contributed to numerous artistic and academic initiatives.
